That’s the day when the free agent frenzy (as per MLB.com) starts. 

I definitely wanted the Yankees to retain Marte, but I’m not sure about the 3 years.  That makes me nervous. 

I don’t expect the Sabathia deal to get resolved quickly.  Therefore it makes sense to pursue other players – especially on the trade front.  Centerfield should be the priority there.  If there is nothing working on that front, I’m ok with the “stop-gap” approach.  Mike Cameron or Corey Patterson (one year only).  I would encourage and expect a call up late in the season anyway for Austin Jackson (assuming he’s not moved in some sort of deal).  But pursuing a deal for the sake of a deal is not what I have in mind which is why I’m ok for the “stop-gap.”  It has to be for the right player. 

The Holliday trade was interesting.  Now it appears that Garret Atkins is on the block.  A shame the Rockies do not have a CF that we can use.  And, no, I do not want Willy Tavares.
