No not that Texiera.  Kanekoa Texeira.  According to Peter Abraham:

The New York Yankees announced today that they have acquired switch-hitting first baseman/outfielder Nick Swisher and right-handed pitcher Kanekoa Texeira from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for infielder Wilson Betemit and right-handed pitchers Jeff Marquez and Jhonny Nunez

Word from ESPN is that the Yankees have acquired Nick Swisher from the White Sox for minor leaguer Jeff Marquez.   Interesting move to make the day before the Free Agent floodgates open. Swisher plays Center Field AND first base.  Basically, Swisher is a hedge bet that allows Cashman to deal from a position of some relative strength.  He can now look in Boras’ face and say, “It would be nice to have Texiera, but we don’t absolutely need him.  Here’s our offer, you can take it or leave it.”  The Yankees will still offer Texiera a ton of cash, don’t get me wrong.

Swisher is a nice chess piece, a pawn if you will.  But it is a well positioned pawn that gives Cashman flexibility in the free agent negotiations.  Swisher can play 1B and all outfield positions, and is a switch hitter.  At a bare minimum, he is an excellent bench player.

Marquez was highly touted.  But trading chips are only good if you use them.
