Bob Feller
by Joe“Individual” is the right word to describe him. I remember in the 90’s, when I was in the memorabilia business, and ballplayers were selling their soles to show promoters, who sold player autographs for $25 and up. Bob Feller refused to make deals with the promoters and would take his own table at memorabilia shows and sell his autograph to anyone who wanted it for $2. I never knew if he was just cheap and didn’t want to give a cut to the show promoter, or if he just wanted to give the fans a better deal. I got 3, one for each kid.

$2 for the autograph of a Hall of Famer even back in the 1990’s was a good deal. So, I would probably say that “Rapid Robert” marched to the beat of his own drum – a fan friendly drum.
