So, for all that extra cash locked up for X years…you’re getting…what?

Well…you’re getting a better player…that’s clear. Teixeira’s OPS is more than 100 points higher. But practically, Teixeira is not THAT much better. It’s not like we’re comparing A-Rod numbers (in a good year) to Swisher’s. BUT, Boras is talking A-Rodesque dollars and contract length. 

So, Teixeira probably isn’t worth all that cash for all those years. And Swisher is a year younger. The recent Yankee Dynasty teams didn’t win with stars. Swish might be more in the mold of Tino than Giambi. And Tino was…..great. Granted, Tino was a better player than either Swisher or Teixeira. Tino only had one season with more than 90 strikeouts…his last season with Seattle (91Ks).Â
