Reindeer Games

Recent rumors have The Sox interested in both Burnett AND Teixeira. And the rumors are that they want both players badly. This is confusing.
They don’t need Burnett. Beckett, Matsuzaka, Lester, Wakefield, Bucholz, Masterson, etc.  I’m sure he’d be nice to have, but with the depth of pitching in that organization…aquiring Burnett isn’t critical.
But, I do [...]

Moose

Moose pitched great last season, but he may very well have been miserable in 2009. Who knows.
The Dynasty ended with the aquisitions of Moose and Giambi. Maybe 2009 will be a good year. Similiar to 1996…Mattingly gone….Yankees win. I’m not comparing Moose/Giambi to Mattingly, but in this game…..funny things happen. Again, who knows.
With Moose not returning, [...]

Moose! Moose! Moose!

The title of the post reflects how I feel about him.  I know a World Championship eluded him as well as a CY Young, but Moose can hold his head up high – knowing that he gave it his all.  This was an unbelievable year from him and what a way to go out.  He [...]

One Last Moose Call

Mussina plans to retire.
Short video summary of his career.

Thoughts

So far, I like Cashman’s strategy here…
Instead of fiddleing around with Sabathia and offering a bit more than what Milwaukee supposedly offered (as Milwaukee’s GM suggested they should have done instead of “overbidding”), the Yanks went above Santana’s deal last year – which is the benchmark anyway. This allows them to flush out the situation more [...]

AJ Burnett

NO NO NO NO!  WHAT THE #$&% ARE THEY DOING!  HAS ANYONE PAID ATTENTION TO WHAT HAS GONE ON IN RECENT YEARS?  JIMINEY CRICKET!
I just read a report that said the Yankees were prepared to make him an offer of $80 million over 5 years!  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I am so against this move.  If Cashman gives him [...]

Clever…

Here’s the way I see it.  The Yankees make an offer to Sebathia.  He is sitting on it.  How do the Yankees light a fire under Sebathia?  They float a rumor that they are making offers to Burnett and Lowe.  At least, that is what I hope they are doing.

Pavano II

I am not a supporter of a move toward AJ Burnett.  As correctly pointed out by Mike, he’s injury prone.  But also, if you take out his stats against the Yankees, his numbers aren’t overly impressive and he’s no spring chicken anymore.  So, I don’t understand what the big appeal is or what the rush [...]

Pavano II??

Rumor is that the Yankees are prepared to offer A.J. Burnett 5 years $80M.   Be afraid.  Be very afraid.  Burnett has only thrown 200 innings three times in his career.  Two times were in years when he became a free agent.   This guy’s injury history raises red flags all over the place and reeks of [...]

More Rapid Robert

I just looked at the official Bob Feller web site and saw a couple of interesting quotes.  Apparantly Feller wasn’t too fond of the Yankees;
“I would rather beat the Yankees regularly than pitch a no-hit game.”
“Sympathy is something that shouldn’t be bestowed on the Yankees. Apparently it angers them.”
