FORGET SABATHIA
by John BJeeze….this is boring as heck.
I was thinking…..is CC Sabathia a little bit of hype? I mean, he’s a good pitcher. Maybe a very good pitcher. But, remember Carlapalooza??? Yeah, yeah…he’s a lot better than Carl. But, you get my point.
It’s like, everyone at the cafeteria is on line for the vegetarian meatloaf because the next best options are creamy lima bean soup and artichokes stuffed with mashed brussel sprouts. I think this is A BIT of the case with Sabathia. So, all of a sudden, I am a bit leary of the Yankees signing him.Â
ESPECIALLY, because he is quoted in the papers as wanting to be a San Fran Giant SO BADLY. He loves the Giants, he loves the Bay Area, he loves trolleys and Rice-a-Roni, blah blah blah… Enough!
This guy DOESN’T want to be a Yankee.
Wasn’t that the whole point with A-Rod last year? He had to come and sit down with the Steingrabber family to communicate how badly he wanted to remain a Yankee before they would consider bringing him back?
So why does Sabathia get a pass? He gets offered a record-setting contract for a pitcher from the New York Yankees and he sits on it for almost a month? A contract bigger than Santana’s, who – in my opinion, is a much better pitcher, and much more suited to perform over the duration of the contract due to his wonderful conditioning. Sabathia doesn’t look like an athlete to me. Yeah, yeah, throw David Wells name in my face. But, David was never the highest paid pitcher in the game.
Forget Sabathia. If he doesn’t want to be a Yankee, he’s not going to be successful as one. He’s going to regret not being in sunny California. New York is a love it or hate it type of place. And we’ve seen this story before: Randy Johnson, Black Jack, et al…
AT LEAST Teixeira is looking to get paid. He’s smart. He hasn’t said A WORD about what he prefers or doesn’t prefer. By the way…read the article on Tex in the current issue of Sports Illustrated.
Forget Sabathia. Let the Giants sign him so they can legitimize trading Matt Cain for offense. Then ship them Nady or Swisher and someone prospects Cain.  Sign Lowe or Burnett.
AND SIGN TEIXEIRA.
The Yanks should not have to convince ANY PLAYER why they should play for the them. ‘Nough said.
