Enough of the Fat Man.
by Mike TI am on the verge of jumping off the CC Bandwagon (much to John B’s delight I suspect).
If CC does not want to take a boatload of Yankee cash by the end of this week. I say screw him. Let the Giants (or some other west coast team) waste their money for a guy who is already the size of a house, will only get bigger, is not enamoured with playing for the Yankees, and has already proven that he can not beat the Red Sox in the postseason, and was trounced by the Phillies in this year’s Postseason. Explain to me why are the Yankees potentially spending $140M for this guy?  Oh that’s right – he’s the best guy on the market. (At least as it is perceived).
Enough with trying to make someone like you. If the attraction is not there, will there ever be love? I doubt it.     I have the sneaking suspicion that his contract could be viewed as bad as the Mike Hampton-Colorado Rockies deal someday. Not Barry Zito Bad. But close.
So who’s Bandwagon am I jumping on? Texiera – That’s who. I want him playing first base, and I want him playing first base now.  Give him a Carlos Beltran/Alfonso Soriano type contract. Average value $17M to $18M. Over 6 or 7 years. Then spend the rest of the cash and get Derrek Lowe and maybe take a flyer on Brad Penny.

Cashman needs to pull Sabathia’s offer off the table. If it takes Sabathia this long to decide whether or not he wants to be a Yankee, someone else can have him. This is not a tough decision– the most recognizable baseball team in the world has offered Sabathia a ridiculous amount of money to play baseball for one of the most storied teams in sports history.
