CC, you’ve got some explaining to do!
by RussI’m counselling patience for two more days. The story about CC wanting to be a Dodger could be a way to try to lure the Dodgers in. But, if anyone saw the article about Ned Colletti, the Dodgers ain’t spending money this winter. They’ve made an offer to Manny (which I think was a little half hearted) and that’s it.Â
As for CC wanting to be a Dodger – I’m not going to rip him for that. The Dodgers are a classic franchise.  Jackie Robinson, etc, etc.  Mike’s wonderful New York PR piece aside, there are some advantages to playing for the Dodgers and living in California, I just can’t think of any right now (just kidding). There have been plenty of guys who wanted to come to NY and couldn’t handle it (Randy Johnson) so, the fact that NY might be CC’s second choice doesn’t bother me all that much.
In all seriousness, this thing needs to move toward the Yankees by the conclusion of the meetings. I mean, either CC is going to realize that the most money is coming from the interlocking “NY” or he really does want to be somewhere else (and he’s really not positioning himself). That’s fine.  As I said last week, I just hope Cashman’s staff is working on other stuff like exploring a trade, and giving power point presentations to other free agents. Â
As for Texeria, he certainly would be nice to have. Especially if the Yanks sign Derek Lowe because that would be two sinkerballers (Wang being the other) on the staff and it would be nice to have someone with his glove in the infield. If he’s signed, I’ll cross my fingers a little that Jorge can catch like he used to. The outfield needs to be addressed too. CF? Remember that problem? I haven’t heard anything on that front except that the Brewers aren’t doing us any favors with Cameron because of the CC offer.
