No Manny

Well, we know where Joe stands.  I understand the concern, I don’t really know where I stand…  he’s got extreme positives and extreme negatives.
And … John you may have discerned exactly what Cashman is thinking with Hughes.  You’re right – you can’t say that Hughes has been more durable, or would give you 200 innings.
I [...]

No Manny

Russ, in the words of Ed McMahon… “you are correct sir”  Let me reiterate, I don’t want Manny on my team”  I know the offense on this team is weaker than last year.  I would rather bring Giambi back for one year to DH than have Manny.

Some thoughts

For some reason, I don’t think the Yanks really want Teixeira. I think they like the idea of Swisher. I also think they need a big bat behind A-Rod. A-Rod has proven he can pitched to….but with Manny behind him….look out…
With the way the market is shaping up…the Yanks may be able to give Manny [...]

Some thoughts

Ok Sabathia is in the fold.  I’m not going to complaint about the money or length of contract.  The Mussina deal worked out (although I recognize Moose kept himself in shape).  We all knew the price would be high and that this was the man targeted.  Done deal.
The Yanks are in discussion for Sheets.  I [...]

Deal…and…

Wow…the deal is reportedly $160 Million over 7 years. He’ll be 35 years old. Well, ok…like Russ said…it’s done.
The Yanks are still knee deep in negotiations for Lowe and Sheets and are rumored to be considering trading Kennedy and another young pitcher for Rick Ankiel (who I wanted last year).
Cano is also rumored to be dangled for Kemp.
Ohh…and by [...]

Ok, close it up

The reports are CC has made a decision.  Millions and millions of reasons later, CC finally found one he liked.  Now close up the deal and move on to other concerns.

Get back on the bus

Heard it on my way in.  Pending a physical (where I guess cholesterol is not a factor), CC will sign with the Yankees.  The deal was reported at around 4:30 this morning (according to Boomer and Carton).

Cashman’s secret rondezvous

The news is Cashman skidaddled out of Vegas, skipping a meeting with reporters, jumped on a flight to San Franscisco to meet with CC and his wife.  This is the third meeting in as many days with CC or his people.  Sounds like they are getting close.   Reminds me of Theo meeting with the Schill [...]
