For some reason, I don’t think the Yanks really want Teixeira. I think they like the idea of Swisher. I also think they need a big bat behind A-Rod. A-Rod has proven he can pitched to….but with Manny behind him….look out…

With the way the market is shaping up…the Yanks may be able to give Manny mega-bucks per year for a shorter contract. Manny would replace the presence of Sheffield…when Sheff was healthy and driving in runs. Since Sheff left, they really have not had that dangerous bat behind A-Rod. Giambi (shift) and all the other stop gap options didn’t work.

As far a Hughes…I think Ca$hman feels burned…not that Phil didn’t anything intentionally…but I don’t think Cash has that confidence in him anymore. And Hughes doesn’t have even close to the stuff of Sheets. Not even close. AND…has Hughes proved to be healthier/more durable than Sheets? To the point where one can make the argument, “Well…Hughes can be our 5th starter…he may not be Sheets…but he’ll at least give us 200 innings.” Cash can’t make that argument. So, he has to do something and then can plug-in Hughes as you explained.

With that line-up, Manny, and with that Rotation…the Yanks will put some fear in the AL East clubs.
