82.5 million for Burnett?  That’s not what I was looking for.  5 years is too long to be locked into a guy with a history of not pitching 200 innings.  I think he’s only done it once.  We will cross our fingers and I guess at this point if Pettitte comes back into the fold that relegates Hughes to being “Burnett insurance.”  There’s been a complete turnaround in philosophy in the last 12 months.  Last year they wanted the young pitchers to get experience at the ML level.  This year, it seems like Hughes might start the year in AAA.  But, as I’ve always said, it’s good to have 6 pitchers.  If Burnett stays healthy though – this is a real good staff. 

Sabathia; Wang; Joba; Burnett; Pettitte; Hughes.

I think they are going to turn their attention to the lineup and I have a sneaky suspicion they are going to sign Manny.  I think the real strategy is to let Texeria go somewhere else (other than Boston) and sign Manny giving mega buck for 2 or 3 years.  Hank will tell Girardi to “deal with it” and this is what happens when the Yanks don’t make the playoffs.
