Bernie, Bonds, Berkman, or Boater (as in showboater)

Here are my thougts:
Bernie: He’s not going to offer any protection for A-Rod.  Even in the best case scenario.  I’m not saying he can’t be in shape or even make the team, but even if he makes the team – I don’t think he will return to All-Star caliber level in order to protect A-Rod.  [...]

Baroid Bonds

Yesterday on WFAN, they were talking about how the Yanks should consider Bonds.
I wouldn’t be averse to bringing in Bonds for a year. The issue is this: He hasn’t played since 2007, so who knows if he still has it???  Sure, you’ll know a little more in spring training…but if he is your only plan for A-Rod [...]

Bring back Bernie

The laundry has to be clean.  So I don’t want Bonds either.  I heard that Bernie was in shape and playing in Puerto Rico.  Maybe he’ll sign a minor league contract now.  Let’s see if he can still hit.

$75 Million Reasons to say no.

Manny is motivated by one thing.  Cash.  If you give it to him, what’s his motivation.  Yes, he would love to play in New York.  But he’s a big powder keg waiting to explode.  I’d rather spend $12-$14 million on a one year deal for Barry Bonds than $25M for three years of Manny.  If [...]

Berkman

Russ…I also like Berkman. He’d fit in perfectly.
The Yanks asked about him in VERY early November…so early, in fact, that it might have still been October. They asked about both Berkman AND Oswalt.
At that time, the Astros communicated that neither Berkman nor Oswalt were available. I’ve heard on the radio and read that Drayton McLane [...]

The Laundry and other Options

John, I agree, we root for the laundry.  Manny is not my ideal of what a Yankee should be, but keeping it in perspective it is a temporary situation it will not be a long term deal.  I am only worried about throwing him in the mix with Girardi – Girardi’s personality doesn’t lend itself [...]

The Laundry & Other Options

Mike G: Root for the laundry. I don’t care who is wearing the uniform, if you’re a fan of the team…you root for the laundry. If they sign Manny, and he crushes a three run bomb off Beckett…I will cheer. He he jogs to first…I will boo. Same as I do for every other player.
I [...]

It’s getting scary

Hank and Hal want Manny.

If he is on this team next year, I don’t care how well he does, I will boo him every time he steps to the plate.  I will not root for him to fail (that would just hurt the team more), but I will not embrace him with cheers.
