I’m going to eat my words.  There are strong rumors out there that because Andy Pettitte is hemming and hawwing, the Yanks may be turning their attention to Oliver Perez.  I’m not an Oliver Perez fan.  He seems to be asking for too much money, $15 million per year.  I don’t want to give him $15 million for his 14 wins.  But the thinking is why not take the money they were going to spend it on Andy and give it to Ollie?  It’s not a bad thought.  Obviously the money is the key.  If Oliver Perez is willing to be reasonable, then maybe it does make sense.  He’s only 27, and in the context of this rotation, the pressure will definitely be off and maybe …. just maybe.  Like I said, I’m going to eat my words.  I would be inclined the give him 3 years, 27 million.  Maybe there’s some room to negotiate.
