I was busy today, but it was the day when the results were released by the BWAA.  No surprise that Henderson was voted in but I was mildly surprised when Rice finally made it.

But if Jim Rice gets in, do the writers then have to put in Albert Belle?  Very similar stats and Rice played longer to achieve them.  Rice is one who I always thought was very close but just falls short.

I’m good with Joe Gordon.  He was ahead of his time offensively for a second baseman, led the league in assists 5 times, DPs 3 times.  He was good defensively too.  And he helped Cleveland win its last championship in 1948.  That’s got to count for something.  Seriously, long overdue.
