Not surprisingly, after their historic chase of the HR record in 1961, Marris and Mantle actually starred in two movies in 1962.  One (correctly identified by Len) “That Touch of Mink” was a romantic comedy that involved a cameo appearance by Mantle, Marris and Yogi.

In “That Touch of Mink”, the wealthy, suave Cary Grant seeks an affair with his conquest Doris Day.  In a bid to impress her, he takes her to see the New York Yankees, where they watch the game from an unusual vantage point, the Yankees dugout (he owns part of the team), and are thrown out, along with Mantle, Maris, and Berra (playing themselves), by an umpire for violating the rules.

Mantle and Maris also Headlined a movie “Safe at Home” which was a morality play involving a young kid who brags to his Little League buddies that his dad knows Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris.  When Hutch boasts to his Little League teammates that Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris are his father’s friends, his lie snowballs and he is forced into promising that he will deliver the two Yankee stars to a Little League banquet. While his father is away on a three-day fishing trip, Hutch hitchhikes a ride to the Yankee spring training camp at Fort Lauderdale. Although he meets Mantle and Maris, the two men refuse to be a party to his deceit. Heartbroken, Hutch returns home to tell the truth to the Little Leaguers and their fathers. Just as he finishes his confession, however, word arrives that Mantle and Maris have invited the Little Leaguers to join them for spring training.
