All the salacious “leaked” excepts from this book were intentional. They were leaked to create this media stir, to incite the outrage being discussed on sports-talk radio. This was all part of the plan to sell books. What recent sports book hasn’t followed this model?

The timing of the book: to be released just prior to spring training, the fact that Torre is STILL actively managing were all considered as benefits to selling the book. Bottom line: the book will be discussed during spring training, during baseball games, etc. …it’s all free advertising. If Torre were not managing, the book wouldn’t be as debated. The longer the release of the book was removed from Torre’s final days as Yankee manager…the less interest.

None of this surprises me…like Russ said….Torre has written books that contain details about specific players (e.g. Ruben Sierra).

Torre is a smart man. He must know that this book will forever seperate him from the Yankee “family”.

Maybe the knowledge of this book within Yankee circles is the reason he was not invited to the final celebration at Yankee Stadium.
