The Yankee Years
by John BJoe, I think I understand your point. You’re basically saying that it’s not like he penned a book about how great it was to manage the Yankees. He co-authored what is believed to be a somewhat negative book – which is his perogative – but that choice comes with consequences – and now he should no longer be revered in the Saintly, classy, non-sensational way he was previously.
With that…I agree. He damaged his own reputation. There was no purpose for recounting his last day as a Yankee other than to make the Yankees look bad and to scour for the pity of Yankee fans. Everyone already knew it ended badly. We didn’t need to know all the details so that we could fully empathize with him.
