The Yankees didn’t want to say it was for performance because then it gets into “I’ve made the postseason 12 years in a row.” Blah, blah, blah. So, they termed it: “Incentives.” Torre wanted that second year because a) it is demeaning to get only one year there has to be some downside to the [...]

But, the Yankee brass themselves (Hal et al) termed it “incentives”. They said that he needed motivation. That wasn’t something that Joe interpreted. They actually called it an “incentive” and cited “motivation” as the reason.
If they said, ”…based on performance, we are offering $5 Million”…your argument would be sound. Â
But it seems that the “incentive” didn’t bother [...]

Here’s a snippet from Torre’s interview on Larry King Live. This only further cements my opinion that Torre just didn’t get it.
KING: Do you feel you were betrayed?
TORRE: No. I don’t feel I was betrayed.

Sorry about that… I forgot answers should go into the comments section.Â

I like batting A-Rod 3rd and Tex 4th. But I would rather have Matsui in the lineup. If healthy, he gives us 100+ RBI. We’re not going to get that from Swisher, so I think he is the odd man out. Put Damon in Left and bat Matsui 5th or 6th
LF Damon
SS Jeter
3B A-Rod
1B Teixeira

So, I am wondering what this lineup is going to look like. My preference:
DH Damon
SS Jeter
3B A-Rod
1B Teixeira
C Posada
RF Swisher
LF Nady
2B Cano
CF Cabrera
I would rather move A-Rod out of the pressure “clean-up” spot and get some protection from Tex. Plus, this gets A-Rod more at-bats. I put Tex, Jorge, Swisher back-to-back since they are all [...]
