Someone’s future is secured
by John BFirst and foremost, this news hurts A-Rod. Of course. This news leaves a black mark on the game itself. And it absolutely hurts the Yankee organization; An organization that prides itself on protecting its brand is now married to a steriod user and perceived liar for the next 10 years.  I’m sure that fits snugly into their long term marketing strategy.
One recent news item has been Jeter’s status after the 2010 season. Journalists and radio hosts cite his defensive drop-off and lack of first base as an option with Tex around as reasons for why Jeter may not return after 2010.
In light of recent developments, and barring any injury or severe drop-off in performance – the Yanks will do EVERYTHING they can within reason to keep Jeter around. Are they really going to move on with a disengenuous steroid user and let their homegrown, natural, role model, hero fade away????
I doubt it. Jeter may be the next manager.
