Our 16th President
by RussToday is President Lincoln’s 200th birthday. Our nation is fascinated by him. Some observations as to why:
He was assassinated on Good Friday in 1865;
He was a man of the 19th century and seemed to be ahead of his time;
He was the first Republican but is revered by Democrats as well;
The only election he ever won was his race for the Presidency (correction – he did win election to the State Legislature, but that’s the only other race he ever won);Â
He was self educated and poor as a child but is universally acclaimed as the greatest President;
I didn’t want to go on for too long – this is a baseball site!
