Seems like old times; seems like new times

Last night we were rewarded with our patience with Matsui.  Not that it counts or anything, but he hit a two run double and a two run homer.  For some – results in spring training are no big deal but what’s important here is what I said yesterday – Hideki looks good at the plate [...]

A-Rod and other issues

A-Rod really does have an interesting sense of priorities.  The best thing about this injury is that he is in Coloardo doing his rehab and far away from spring training where the reporters can’t get to him.  By the time he moves down to Tampa to start baseball related drills, hopefully the team will be [...]

A-Rod has filter?

It has been one thing after another with A-Rod this offseason.  Now he has a picture spread in Details that has him looking like he’s in love with his own reflection in the mirror. His PR team is really a bunch of failures.  The author of the article pretty much screws him over as well:
A-Rod [...]

Kei Igawa, Yankee Ace.

Kei Igawa hurled two more scoreless innings today, running his spring streak to 11 frames.

Yankees Trivia

Since Babe Ruth hit 54 HR in 1920, who has hit the most HR in his first season as a Yankee?

Robinson C.

Robbie is back from the World baseball extravaganza (the only interesting thing about the WBC was seeing doe-eyed guitar playing walkabout artist Bernie Williams get in trouble). Cano reports his arm is stiff, and when he left for the WBC it was already stiff.  That’s just great.  P.T. Barnum said no one ever lost money underestimating [...]

Hat Tip to Mike G.

Love the “Its Hip” line on the Left side of the screen.

The lineup sans A-Rod

To me, the issue is: Do you want to leave Tex in the same spot all year long or is it a big deal moving him to cleanup?   I can’t trust #2 to Gardener, the OBP doesn’t have a track record.  The observation that Cano might get homer happy is a good one.  When Cano is [...]

Lineup sans A-Rod

LF Damon
SS Jeter
1B Teixeira
DH Matsushi
C Posada
2B Cano
RF Nady
3B Ransom
CF Gardner

At first, I liked the idea of testing Cano in an RBI spot. BUT…I remember the days of Gary Sheffield…and his influence on Cano. He told Robinson that homers are what make you ”da big dollahs”. And that was the beginning of Cano’s homer happiness. Cano needs [...]

Line-up sans A-Rod

How about: Damon, Jeter, Tex, Cano, Matsui, Posada…
- Cano is not a high OBP guy… put him in the RBI position and see if he produces.
There are thoughts of inserting Gardner at 2, thus pushing the lineup down 1 slot each after him (Damon, Gardner, Jeter, Tex….  But, I’m not sure I like an untested [...]
