I love the night life, I like to boogie
by RussYes, just like this title this season has begun in disturbing ways:
1) Wang can’t get anyone out. No exaggeration. He has been rendered totally ineffective. And no one seems to know what to do with him to fix it. Disturbing.
2) New Yankee Stadium is a band box (for now). Any ball hit in the air is destined for the seats. This is crazy and it’s not baseball. Disturbing.
3) No one is sitting in the seats down below to enhance the home field advantage for the Yankees. No heckling, no insults, no cheering, no nothing. To see an empty lower deck behind home plate on the first homestand of the season is disturbing. I don’t really care because I’ve seen the Stadium empty plenty of times, but still. Disturbing.
4) The posts about urinals. Seriously now. Disturbing.
5) Finally, John Sterling. Driving home I have to hear the “walk off” call “the Melk Man delivers!” And, “that’s the Melky Way!” I mean, come on now – he’s just trying to annoy me now. Disturbing.Â
No less disturbing than a couple of years ago when Charlie Steiner was in the booth with Sterling and I heard him belting out a couple of bars of “I love the night life, I like to boogie….” I’m sure it was then and there when Steiner decided to quit. And I should have know back then that this was headed in this disturbing direction.Â
However, even considering the foregoing, I’ll take the 9-6 start.
