1. How could Girardi possibly think that Wang was ready? Didn’t he watch him in spring training? Garbage. He should have done the necessary due diligence. So, he was fine in the spring and can’t pitch in the majors? That’s crap.
  2. How does Girardi leave Tomko in the minors this long?
  3. This team is paying for the sins of the philosophy it has taken the past ten years. And that philosophy is “Excess.” Garbage.
  4. The Yankees are a baseball organization, yet they built a stadium reminiscient of a fine hotel. So, expensive that the everyday working fan can’t afford to take his family to a game. What ever happened to a hot dog, a hot pretzel, and a beer? Now they’ve got 5 course meals, martini bars, and private seating areas. Garbage.
  5. The same philosophy has been employed in building the team. High-priced big-name players over a strategic approach to building a winning ball club. Boston should be praised for this….they have A PLAN.
  6. I said it yesterday, this isn’t a winning combination…it’s a group of hired guns, past their prime heroes, and some overrated young guys. Garbage.

The stark reality is that there is no near-term fix. There isn’t a player to trade for and there isn’t a different manager or coach that can substantially help. They’re stuck with the new “quiet” stadium. They’re stuck with the long-term contracts.

They’re stuck with A-Rod…and guess what…he isn’t the answer either…he’s going to come back with all the pressure of the world on his back…proving he can play without roids, trying to salvage the lineup. He’s going TO FOLD as usual.

This is going to take YEARS to turn around. YEARS.

If I’m Jeter, I DON’T resign with the Yankees. I play somewhere else. Change of scenery. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up with Joe in Los Angeles.

They HAD ONE opportunity to take a different approach. It was handed to them on a silver platter. A gift. A-Rod opted out. They warned him, they told him what was going to happen….and then they took him back anyway. It was handed to them!!!

Yankee management is too damn easy. When Varitek expected a big contract, they said no. They stuck to their guns. They were prepared to say goodbye. It’s like going into a car dealership, with your heart set on a certain car…but making a promise to yourself that you will walk out just as easily as you walked in. Yankee management doesn’t know how to walk out of the dealership.

They only player they left hanging in recent years was Bernie Williams. And he could have actually helped them as a bat off the bench!!
