Will they live up to the hype?
by Mike TOn May 8th, I demanded that the Yankees go 8-2 over the next 10 games by sweeping the O’s, taking 2 of 3 from Toronto and 3 of 4 from Minnesota. Well they failed on the Sweep but with a win today they can go 8-2. It has not been pretty, but the comeback wins have been nice and building some positive vibes. (I’m not going to say chemistry because most teams look like they have chemistry when they win 7 of 9).
Jeter and Cano need to get their swings back.  Cano is hitting .160 over the last 15 days lowering his average from .360 to .296.  Jeter has been less awful (batting .261 over that stretch) but he has been pounding the ball into the ground.  Teixeira has found that it is nice to hit in front of A-Rod (He’s batting .302 with 10 Runs, 5 HR and 14 RBI over the last 15 days). So if Alex starts to hit maybe the offense can really get on a roll.
So here’s my demands for the next three series (9 games).  I want 5 of 6 for the rest of the home stand (3 vs. Baltimore and 3 vs. Philly). The pitching match ups for Philly look good. Burnett, Pettitte, Sabathia vs. Myers, Park and Moyer. Hughes is the question mark in the Baltimore series. Three at Texas….my guess is that may be Wang’s return, plus Joba and Burnett. So I’m thinking they only take 1 of 3. So that’s 6-3 over the next 9. Lets go for it!.
