Where’s the story ESPN?!?

How is it that a story about a former Red Sox player, who says that the team had a doctor come in during spring training and tell them that if they cycled steroids in the off-season it would help them train better than a clean player and would not hurt them unless they abused steroids, [...]

Will they live up to the hype?

On May 8th, I demanded that the Yankees go 8-2 over the next 10 games by sweeping the O’s, taking 2 of 3 from Toronto and 3 of 4 from Minnesota.  Well they failed on the Sweep but with a win today they can go 8-2.  It has not been pretty, but the comeback wins [...]

Young Players

I like how Cervelli handles himself behind the plate. He’s not intimidated by established big-name starters. He has a gun. He was hitting .190 in Double A. But, he’s been productive at the plate in the majors up to this point. I think this goes to show that, for position players, “time on the farm” [...]

Another plus

On Gardner’s throw Joe just mentioned there was a fine tag play by Cervelli, who then intelligently gunned it to second in an attempt to get an out there. While Molina is recuperating he should spend part of the time checking out rocking chairs ’cause his career might be ending with us.

C.C.

I like what I see from CC.  He gutted out 8 innings and gave the Yankees what they need.  He is looking more and more like the staff ace.  Also nice… have you seen the throws from Melky and Gardner the past two games?  And they have been hitting too.  IF only we can count [...]

It’s a Girl!

New Yankee fan, Meg born to this Roundtable member at 12:41 pm on May 13.  8 lbs. 2 oz.  In all the excitement I didn’t catch the length.  Looks about 20 inches though.  Late life on the fastball, a 12 to 6 curve and she’s working on a change up already.  Mom and baby are [...]

Sterling HR calls for Brett Gardner

Fan-submitted on Boomer and Carton this morning:
It is high. It is far.  It is gone!…
…The Gardner leaves the field!
…Gardner clears the field!
…That ball is plowed by Gardner! (my favorite)

Match-ups

What is the better match-up this evening, Pettitte versus Richmond of the Blue Jays or Crosby-Ovechkin on Versus TV.  I am not a hockey fan, but even I know that’s rhetorical.
Anyone see “60 Minutes” Sunday – Bill James the god of stats and muse of moneyball, Epstein, etc., consultant to BoSox, was asked to pick [...]
