The home run barrage at New Yankee Stadium is a little ridiculous….entertaining…but ridiculous.  The Stadium effect is great for the Yankees since they always think they can score, but once our opponents have a few games here, they will think the same thing.  105 HR through 29 games.  That’s 3.62 HR per game.  No other team in either league has an average over 3.00. The closest of any team in the majors is Citizen’s Bank Park (2.92) and Ameriquest Field (Texas) (2.89).  AL league average is 2.19, NL 1.87 and MLB 2.02.   Even if you take away the 16 HR’s that would not have been HRs in more than 20+ parks in MLB, there have still been 89 HR in 29 games which is 3.06 HR per game… Still the most in the Majors.  The ballpark is a joke.  Fortunately, Cashman has a lot of strikeout pitchers as starters, which I thought was there to help the defense (i.e. Jeter et al would have less balls to field).  But in reality it’s an advantage over other teams.  They will need to construct teams in this way in the future if the ballpark effect is not nuetralized.
