Mmmmm… That was good.
by Mike TWell that was a fun series. So much for the “The Red Sox haven’t played this Yankee Team” B.S. Seriously, why is it that Boston can seemingly get hits at will in the clutch, while the Yankees pitchers can’t get anyone out. Is there any doubt in anyones’ mind that if the Yankees had bases loaded no one out last night in the same situation that they strike out, pop out in the infield and ground out? So here’s my list.
- Nick Swisher - needed to be benched after his dumb base running blunder. Two games in a row against a team you have not beaten this year you get doubled off in stupid situations. You need some pine-time.
- A.J. Burnett – You need to shut up and pitch. Your quotes about what you are going to do are meaningless and you sound like Jeff Weaver. Remember when he came to New York and was giving up HR galore and he said something like “That’s not me I don’t give up HRs”.  I think you can ask Alex Gonzalez if Jeff Weaver gives up HRs. Oh, and your “pie in the face” gimmick privileges are revoked. Throw a shut out and you can throw a pie.
- Brett Gardner - It’s been nice knowing you. But if you can’t reach the home plate on a fly from shallow left center field in Fenway park, you don’t deserve to play the outfield for the Yankees.  Time to bring up A-Jax.
- Joe Girardi -  Now for the manager. CC pitched great. But why was he starting the 8th? Even if you let him start the 8th, after he gives up the hit to Green AND the the 10 pitch at bat when he couldn’t put away Pedroia, Girardi should have realized that his stuff was gone and brought in a reliever. I would have even suggested bringing in Mo after Green got a hit. Let Mo take care of the top of the order then have Coke or Aceves close out the ninth. You have’nt beaten this team all year. You’ve got to do something. What were you hoping with Aceves, a one run lead and two men on and no one out. Aceves agaist Youkilis, Bay and Lowell? Even if he survived that, you are saving Mo for Papi, Varitek and Baldelli? C’mon. That was the inning. And Girardi blew it.  Â
Now they need to take the first two against the Mets because Santana is going on Sunday against Burnett and if you think they are winning that game, I have a bridge to sell you.
