By the way, the other night Joba was constantly shaking off Jorge.  The result, Joba walked 3 guys and hit 2 in a single inning and had thrown over 100 pitches in 5 innings.  Maybe next time he should try listening to Jorge.  Joba has not earned the right to shake off a veteran like Jorge.   Speaking of young pitchers shaking off veterants, here are three pearls of wisdom from Crash Davis to Nuke LaLoosh in Bull Durham. 

Davis:  “You just got lesson number one: don’t think; it can only hurt the ball club.”

Davis: [stands up] Hey! HEY!
[walks to meet LaLoosh at the mound]
Davis: Why are you shaking me off?
LaLoosh: [Gets in Crash's face] I want to give him the heat and announce my presence with authority!
Davis: Announce your f*%king presence with authority? This guy is a first ball, fast ball hitter!
LaLoosh: Well he hasn’t seen my heat!
Davis: [pauses] Allright meat, show him your heat.
[Walks back towards the box] 
Davis: [to the batter] Fastball.

Davis: Relax, all right? Don’t try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they’re fascist. Throw some ground balls – it’s more democratic.
