I kept hearing at the beginning of the season that Cody Ransom was the best athlete on the team because he could do a dunk from a standing position or something.  Nonsense.  The last time I saw someone dunk in the majors was………NEVER!  Who Cares!  Out of Ransom, Berrora and Pena – Pena was the best defender.  He’s second only to Tex Mex out there.  How come we can see this on television and management cannot?

The team is playing better.  AJ has pitched better since promising to do so (which makes me wonder if he could turn it on, why did he wait so long?).  Posada is on absolute fire and obviously those on the pitching staff need to pipe down because Jorge needs to play just about everyday.  Jeter is doing his thing.  I don’t want to come back to this, but the two players that need to straighten out are Cano and Joba.  Cano just needs to be a little more consistent, and Girardi should stop playing around with him in the order.  Leave him somewhere.  If he gets complacent, then sit him.  Joba, to me, is the big problem here, the Yankees are on the verge of ruining this guy.  He needs an attitude adjustment, big time.  Girardi and Eiland should have sat with Joba and watched the tape of his last outing together and then asked him which part did he think was ok?  And given him a critique right then and there.  His fastball is nonexistent lately —  old school players (like Jim Kaat) would say it’s a “Peggy Lee” fastball, meaning “Is that all there is?”  Which apparently was a hit song for her back in the day.
