The Red Sox are sooooooo desperate to make a deal here. They probably feel like they have enough talent to move/spare to obtain Halladay. Except of course, Toronto cannot trade him within the division. Even if no extension is worked out. Putting him in the same division to one of their rivals is what Han Solo called attacking the Death Star… “suicide.” The Yankees would be better off monitoring Halladay to see if the Red Sox are really in it, and turning their attention to Cliff Lee and if they could somehow deal with Beane, talk to him about Holliday. If anyone is interested in the Mets, they’ve got nothing. Nothing to trade, but more importantly nothing to acquire that would make the team compete this season.

I say Halladay goes to the NL. If the Phillies are willing to part with Drabek’s kid, they can probably get him. If not, I say he goes to the Giants for Sanchez and some others. If, Wells goes to the Giants as part of the “dump” maybe the Yanks can score Rowand as a temporary fix in centerfield(?)
