I’m not picking on Joba really, every pitcher’s innings are  restricted these days. Newsday is running a series of game box score every day of the 69 Mets season. Today’s had a game Tommie Agee won with a walk-off HR.  He hit it off  Juan Marichal who went the entire 13 1/3 innings for SF Giants. Softie Gary Gentry for the Mets was relieved after 10, bet he took a ribbing in the clubhouse after the game. Believe me, that box score is more reflective of the 1969 norm than exception. How things change. Of course Marichal had a long HOF career and Gentry, who won a game in the great 69 World Series  finished his career in Atlanta, I believe. They were the lucky ones, but how many arms were blown out?  Hundreds and hundreds, no doubt, and no Tommy John surgery either.
