In my opinion the addition of Jerry Hairston, Jr. is one of Cashman’s best acquisitions.   He is extremely versatile and has a better than average bat.  It appears that he has seamlessly fit in with the current team.  I don’t remember a similar player who looks good defensively at several positions.  He recently played centerfield and short stop. I feel that the Yankees don’t suffer defensively when he plays the field.  He may offer them another option in centerfield when the playoffs start.  This guy is a keeper and should be on the roster for several years.  Sure, there may be a better player in the future, but Hariston’s versatility and temperament to play part time at various positions is rare in this game at this time.
