Trivia Rip Off
by Mike TJayson Stark had a great trivia question on Mike & Mike in the Morning this A.M. that I thought I’d pass along.
There are 6 active players who have scored 1,000 runs since the begining of the year 2000 (i.e. 2000 season forward). Three of them are current Yankees (Jeter, A-Rod and Damon). Who are the other three?
BTW. Where did the 2000s go?
I’ll publish the answer in the comments tomorrow (or after we get a few guesses).

I’ll be shocked if I even get one.
Manny, Andruw Jones, Torii Hunter
Manny is close 928 runs, his suspension this year and the 130 or so games in 2006 and 2007 kept his total below 1000.
Andruw Jones was on a good pace (705 runs through 2006) but his horrible 2008 and 2009 killed his chances. He’s at 850.
Torii Hunder – Not even close only 775 runs. He’s never been fully durable.
I’m going to guess the following:
Bobby Abreu
Ichiro Suzuki
Albert Pujols
I can’t remember if Ichiro and Pujols have been around long enough. Now I’ll try to refrain from looking this up before Mike tells me the right answers.
Both Ichiro and Pujols have been in the League since 2001.
Ichiro – Even though Ichiro has averaged 111 runs a year, he is just under the threshhold with 968, he wont get enough runs this year (he’s at 83). If he played in 2000 he would have cleared it easily.
Pujols – Even though Pujols has only been in the league since 2001, he averages over 125 runs per year. He has 1067 runs in only 9 seasons. Totally amazing. Stark points out that Pujols will also likely win the NL triple crown for the DECADE. He has 366 HR (Bonds is 2nd with 317), 1105 RBI (Berkman is 2nd with 1019), and a .334 AVG (Helton is 2nd at .330 and would need hit .500 the rest of September to get to .332 and Pujols would have to hit .166 to fall to .3318 to pass him). So yes, Pujols is correct.
Abreu – Nice call Mike. Abreu is at 1055 with 90 so far this year. He has averaged over 105 runs a year over his career.
So that’s two of the three. Who will get the last one?
You already mentioned him….Todd Helton.
I would have also guessed Chipper Jones, Delgado, Beltran, Guerrero, Tejada….but Helton is the answer.
Correct. The third is Helton.
