Late Night with Alex Rodriguez
by Mike GSo, it was 5-0 and I decided I could go to sleep. I put the game on my little clock radio and pushed SLEEP. Of course things then start to come apart and I’m up all night clawing my pillow with anxiety. Anyway, it’s nice that they clinched a playoff spot. Better when then clinch the division. I’m glad there wasn’t excessive celebration. They’ve been playing too poorly for that. It’s also nice that KC has been beating Boston. Hopefully the team plays well the rest of the way, and with less pressure Girardi can set things up for the post season.
It’s been a pretty complaint-free year concerning A-Rod. Another great game for him last night. A big 2-run HR to break the early scoreless tie, and more importantly, the “woe is me” against the Angels mood; a great defensive play to save the lead in the 7th; and the game-winning go-ahead RBI in the 9th. There’s been a good team-oriented way about him this year, he’s quietly had a load of very big hits, and I feel good about him for the post season (if the Yankees stick around long enough that he gets a chance).
