Mike T…when Torre joined the Yankees…he certainly let youth flourish…
There were a few young guys back then that Torre supported.
Let me see if I remember their names…..who was that young shortstop??? Oh, Derek Jeter. And that center fielder??? I remember…his name was Bernie or something like that. And then there was that guy he entrusted [...]

Peter Abraham questions whether or not it is time to reward Girardi with a contract extension.Â
But I do believe Girardi took the right steps to change his approach, both with the team and with the media.
It started in spring training and if you were reading the blog then, it was a topic here several times. Girardi [...]

Who would have thunk, Ian Kennedy would have gotten important outs in the 8th inning of a game against the Angels. Well he did, it was nerve-wracking, but he did. Mo finished it off.  The AL East is within reach, and now there’s a chance that with a sweep this weekend they clinch against Boston.  That [...]

So, it was 5-0 and I decided I could go to sleep. I put the game on my little clock radio and pushed SLEEP. Of course things then start to come apart and I’m up all night clawing my pillow with anxiety. Anyway, it’s nice that they clinched a playoff spot. Better when then clinch [...]

SIX!  Yankees at 96-56 have 10 to play. Boston at 89-61 have 12 to play.  Even if the Yankees go 5-5, Boston would have to go 12-0 to win the East.Â
Lets hope Good AJ shows up today in Anaheim. Taking 2-3 in LA and going 3-3 on a late west coast trip would be nice.

Jayson Stark had a great trivia question on Mike & Mike in the Morning this A.M. that I thought I’d pass along.
There are 6 active players who have scored 1,000 runs since the begining of the year 2000 (i.e. 2000 season forward). Three of them are current Yankees (Jeter, A-Rod and Damon). Who are the [...]

This week is the test. The Yankees play the Angels and the Red Sox.  Aside from the fact that A.J. Burnett and Joba currently scare the crap out of me in the playoffs, the next six games will give us an idea if we are headed for a pleasant October or will be quickly looking [...]

So I watched the Angels-Red Sox game last night after the Yankee game ended. What is it with the Angels? Why do they always seem to have trouble with the Sox? Anyhow, the umpires totally stole that game from the Angels.  Fuentes came in with a one run lead in the ninth and promptly got [...]

… but not for us poor folk in the grandstand.
This ridiculous $2500 seats have been lowered to an astounding $1500. Still crazy, but that’s a huge drop. There are other nice price drops as well even in non-premium suite areas. Elsewhere, the prices will remain the same for 2010 with only one area getting an [...]

During this period of waiting for the payoffs to start I was thinking about the HOF and if Rivera will get a unanimous vote on the first ballot. He should, but you never know about prejudices, etc.
I am picking on Rivera because if anyone in this era should receive a 100% vote it is him. [...]
