Golden Gloves

Teixeira managed to win himself and Jeter a pair of Gold Gloves this year.  A nice punctuation Mark on a fantastic season…

BTW: All the more reason why its NOT a good idea to negotiate with Jeter on an extension this offseason.

A-Rod Hall of Fame

Many reasonable sportswriters will want to vote for A-Rod for HOF. Will A-Rod give voters “cover” to ”admit” votes for the more notorious of the steroid era. For simplicity we can just say Barry Bonds. Can you vote for A-Rod and not Bonds, is confirmed steroid use a pure yes/no litmus test?  Assuming A-Rod has been clean [...]

Yankees Trivia

Who last wore number 2 for the Yankees before Derek Jeter?

A-Rod

Someone had mentioned that my post the other day failed to mention A-Rod, as I have been an A-Rod supporter (not apologist) since he arrived in NY.  I did forget to mention him and that in itself, probably says something.  You always knew that if A-Rod just suppressed his own goals for the sake of [...]

Fun

This year was fun.  Much like 1998.   I can honestly say that I enjoyed this team more than any other in the past 7 – 8 years.  I think Cashman deserves a lot of credit for putting together an incredibly talented group of ball players, but more importantly a group with outstanding character.  There didn’t [...]

Closure of sorts

I’m glad Russ brought it up. The WS loss in 2001 was one that still lingered and now I can let it drift away. It was because of September 11 and so many heroic comeback NYY wins before Game seven in that series. Losing by a fielding miscue and a bloop hit off Mo seemed such an undeserved [...]

The Postseason MVP

Offensively, this Postseason was flat out dominated by Alex.  After dominating the ALDS and ALCS, he was overanxious in the World Series starting the first two games 0-8 with 6 Ks.  But after that…..

In Game 3 he hit the game changing (and in my opinion series changing) 2 R HR off Hamels
In Game 4 he hit the go [...]

What can you say?  It never gets old, because you realize how hard it is for a team to win the World Series.  It’s an unbelievable achievement to play essentially over 200 baseball games (including pre-season and playloffs) from February to November and be the last team standing on the next to last possible game [...]

Congratulations – times two.

To the team, the organization, and to the Roundtable for sharing in the struggle.
My family will remember yesterday as a great  double header. In the afternoon my son passed his last check flight and after 15 months (longer than a baseball season) of pressure and mental exertion is now a pilot in the United States Air [...]
