I like the way Cashman is managing the off season business so far.   The free agent crop this winter stinks.  So, sit back and see what happens.  Next year is the year to be active.

As for this years deals… Matsui is a DL waiting to happen.  And I thinks the Yankees may have been surprised how fast Hideki agreed to a deal with the Angels.  Damon may be back yet because no one in their right mind will give him 3 – 4 years at $13M per year.  And if not,  Nick Johnson may give you less versatility than Damon, but he will be a good # 2 hitter behind Jeter.  He’ll bat .300 and have a .400 obp.   The Granderson deal is a positive addition. I like the improved defense.   Boston’s rotation is definitely better, but I don’t think they will get Gonzalez, who is a fan favorite in San Diego and is a grossly underpaid.  If San Diego trades him they will run that new GM out of town.  Without Gonzalez, their offense is still a couple of steps below the Yankees.
