Ok… so I went a little overboard before

I understand the multi-year strategy.  But this is a superpower arms race with the Red Sox.  The U.S. didn’t take a year off and let the Soviet Union dominate.  I guess it may be a switch for me, but Cashman sounds like he’s part of what former President George Herbert Walker Bush referred to as “the nuclear [...]

2010 and beyond…

While I like the signing of Johnson, I agree with Russ that this deal loses its luster given Matsui could have been retained for roughly $1 Million more and has considerably more power than Johnson. And both are DL risks.
I agree with Joe in that Boston will be hard pressed to aquire Gonzalez. Padres GM Jed [...]

Cool Cash

I like the way Cashman is managing the off season business so far.   The free agent crop this winter stinks.  So, sit back and see what happens.  Next year is the year to be active.
As for this years deals… Matsui is a DL waiting to happen.  And I thinks the Yankees may have been surprised [...]

Winter of Discontent

This is an ok move.  Am I excited about it?  I don’t know is it that much different from the deal Matsui got (one year 6.5 million)?  If the Red Sox were done making moves, I’d probably be ok with this.  But the other day when I said I was ok with the moves that [...]

Krissy’s Boyfriend is Back!

According to Ken Davidoff at Newsday, Nick Johnson and the Yankees have agreed to a 1 year $5.5 M deal.  Apparently he doesn’t mind being a full time DH.

NICK JOHNSON!

Apparently the Yankees don’t think that Boras is going to budge on Damon’s price.  If Nick can stay healthy, I think this is a good move.  The guy is an OBP machine.  Being a DH should limit his exposure to injury.  He’ll keep some offense in the lineup when giving Tex a rest.  They can [...]

Yankees Trivia

Who started the most Opening Day games for the Yankees in the 1990s?

Kate Hudson

I think it’s a good sign that they broke up. Especially because it seems A-Rod was the one doing the dumping. It shows he’s finally happy being by himself and isn’t desperate for star approval. This is good news. If they got engaged, I would think A-Rod was as crazy as ever.

We should care… A-Rod was the player we needed while he was with Kate!

This is all fine

The Red Sox got Lackey and Cameron, and now are all but assured of losing Bay and Lowell.  I’m ok with that.  Does that mean the Red Sox outfield will be some combination of Cameron, Ellsbury and Drew?  With Beltre, Scutaro, Pedroia and Youkilis with Martinez catching?  I’m ok with that.  They dramatically overpaid for [...]
