Prediction: By June the centerfielder will be Brett Gardner and the LF will be Curtis Granderson. Winn is the 4th outfielder and is there to be the defensive substitution for Swisher.
I agree with Joe. If you look at the moves made by Cashman, you can’t look at them by position. You have to look at [...]

Last year we had Melky, this year – Wynn. Discount age, since Wynn is signed for only one year. There is not much difference between the two. Wynn will steal more bases and will probably have a better OBP. Defense is probably equal. Edge: Even
Last year we had Damon, this year – Granderson. Big upgrade [...]

Don’t misunderstand this post – the Yankees have had a good off-season. The rotation is arguably better and Granderson, assuming he plays center field is an upgrade over Melky and Gardener. However, Granderson has to play CF for this to work.
Randy Winn, might be able to play defense (not sure on how he’s played in [...]

So now we have Randy Winn as our 4th outfielder. Defensively he is very good. Offensively he is a career .286 hitter who was afwul last year, but still had very good line drive rates and statistically flukely BABIP (Batting Average on Balls in Play) suggesting that he was somewhat unlucky. Cashman took a shot [...]

It’s officially over. They Yankees have signed Randy Winn for $2mil and Damon may be a nomad for the rest of his career.

Oooooooo.. that’s as cold as being stranded on Hoth about the Mets ticket season subscribers.Â
Anyway… this is typical Boras. I don’t know if he doesn’t believe Cashman or what. I think Cashman is slightly bluffing in that there is more money but clearly they are communicating to Damon that they are not going to the [...]

According to this article, Newsday, which recently required on-line readers to pay a subscription to access its web site, reported that it has a grand total of 35 paid subscribers. The website cost $4 million to revamp. The gross revenue from the 35 subscribers would be a whopping $9,000 (assuming they all paid $260 – [...]

Scott Boras’ ego is writing checks that Johnny Damon can’t cash. Looks like the Yankees offer is now 1 year for $2 million. At most he might get $5 million from the A’s… maybe. He had 2 years and $14 million from the Yankees in his pocket. Nice going Scott.

As much as the Yankees chuckle at the fumbling, bumbling, disaster that is the New York Mets…they also pity the Metropolitans.
Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman, “They’re really in a sad state those Mets. They can’t do anything right. I heard they even sent their spring training equipment to the wrong a address in Florida.”
Cashman is referring to [...]

And ground control to Major Tom.
OK, I’m a Giants fan. But I remember watching Super Bowl III on TV and being in nervous exhaustion pulling for the Jets. I attended only one pro football game with my late father (and late uncle and my brother), it was 12/8/68 at Shea, Jets won 27-14 over the [...]
