And ground control to Major Tom.

OK, I’m a Giants fan. But I remember watching Super Bowl III on TV and being in nervous exhaustion pulling for the Jets. I attended only one pro football game with my late father (and late uncle and my brother), it was 12/8/68 at Shea, Jets won 27-14 over the Paul Brown coached Bengals. (I googled the score, I’ve not that good a memory, but  it’s the right game). It was the last regular season Jets home game before the playoff  game and Super Bowl III. Also cold as a sumbitch in the exposed outfield bleachers at Shea, the wind off Flushing bay was Candlestick Park bad that day.

Saw a Namath to Maynard TD that game. Good memory, recently rehashed it with my brother.

I also saw a  NY Titans game at the Polo Grounds with a friend and his Dad. That in 1963, the week following the JFK assassination, the AFL cancelled its games the immediate Sunday following the murder, the NFL did not.

Wow, this site is great  for strange sports nostalgia  therapy. But better for NYY news, hope some breaks soon!
