Feed the need!
by RussOk, so I worry. It’s only because I know how hard it is to repeat. I’ve seen it.  Once you have won a world series… you want more. More. More. More. We must feed the need for dominance. More. Ever since 1978, it’s been life and death with the Red Sox and since about 1999 or so, it has only intensified, hundred fold. So, I worry about what they are doing, I look at their team and I am envious, even if it should be the case that they look at our team and are jealous. It doesn’t matter. I worry if the new guys can do it. With the exception of last year, we’ve been let down in this department. Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea of introducing new talent to stay hungry. But I worry. Every year the league seems to get more competitive. Boston keeps re-tooling, they have some players that I respect and fear even though Manny is longer there and Big Papi is a shadow of himself. They still have Beckett, Pedroia, Youk, Papelbon. They are better defensively in left field, centerfield, third base and shortstop. If Dice-K comes back and pitches well, their staff all of the sudden looks formidable again and deep. Beckett and Lackey are bulldogs. Lester has another season of maturity under his belt. They have young arms in the bullpen in front of Papelbon. I worry. Gone are the days when you could count on the sox to screw up a defensive play or two. They are going to play good defense now. And they have won and are confident. We are in for all we can handle next year which is why I need more mojo, more magic, more groove, more dance fever, more denny terrio, more $25,000 pyramid, more night moves, more 1970 pop culture references! You hear me! More!
