A Wake-Up Call

Russ sounds reveille!!  Years back, I actually did see “We Built this City” on a list of worst rock songs of all time.  But Grace Slick could still carry a vocal and the song was a #1 record at the time so your daughter should be cool with that (not that she cares!).
I am getting psyched [...]

We Built this City

That’s right, every season needs a theme and why not a goofy, 80’s hit from an aging band like Jefferson Starship?
The song might be goofy and it’s probably why there is undeniable joy on my 4 year old daughter’s face when I play it for her. But that goes to my point:  Baseball is fun [...]

Joba no bother

Well, so much for my opinion.  Hughes has been declared the fifth starter.  The Joba experiment is over.  He will be in the bullpen.  Gaudin was released.

All is indeed quiet….

The Yankees’ biggest decision this spring training is whether to have chardonnay or pinio grigio with the fish.  You got it, Thames is the 5th outfielder.
Hey, didn’t most of us say two years ago that Joba should be in the bullpen, be a caddy to Mariano Rivera (learn a few things at the feet of [...]

Last roster spot

Marcus Thames will be the 5th outfielder.  And Russ, what’s with the Boston love fest? What is that… reverse psychology?
Vegas has the over/under on wins at 94.5 for both the Yankees and Boston.  The Rays are at 89.5.

Fifth Starter

It is my opinion that Joba’s eventually destiny is in the pen.  But, it really bothers me that we spent two years d^$%ing around with him and his innings limits trying to make him a starter only to give up now.  Now that he has no restrictions, we are going to send him to the [...]

Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Starting Pitchers: CC Sabathia; AJ Burnett; Andy Pettitte; Javier Vasquez; Phil Hughes
Relief Pitchers:  Mark Melancon; Sergio Mitre; Alfredo Aceves; Damaso Marte; Dave Robertson; [...]

Yeah Joba stinks

He stinks.  Get him out of here.  Make Aceves the 5th starter, put Hughes in the bullpen.  Get some spare equipment for Joba.  Goodbye.
Maybe you can package Joba with Bret Gardener to get Oliver Perez.
Ahhh… spring training.  I love it!

Yankees’ Team of the Decade

MLB.com set out to determine the best players, position by position, for each big league team from 2000 through 2009. Panels were created in each Major League city, arguments were entertained and decisions were made.

Out with the old…

Mike T. found this and asked that I post it here. This just makes me sad.
