Ok. Now I’m going to complain.
by Mike TWhat the heck is Girardi doing? According to the Michael Kay Show, one game into the season, Girardi is changing the lineup. Gardner after going 2-4 and stealing home is not in the lineup today AND Granderson is batting ninth. Marcus Thames is in. I’m all for getting our first win, but is that the way to reward Gardner and Granderson, both of whom performed pretty darn well on their first day of the season? Way to instantly put the mental press on both of them. Now both Granderson and Gardner will be thinking “There’s a tough lefty in today, I wonder if I play today or where I will bat in the lineup?” People always talk about players like to know their roles, well how does this help? I’m going to have to come up with a nickname for Girardi. Maybe, to borrow from Marvel Comics, the Tinkerer.
