John B was wrong…

So, I’m off to a bad start:
I called Granderson ”weak hitting” and the guy has hit two bombs to win two games against Boston – against Boston’s closer.
I thought Burnett would be solid. He looked bad.
Just thought I would own-up…

A-Rod’s SWF obsession isn’t over

Maybe I should be posting about the many aspects of a nice win last night but I stumbled across this and couldn’t pass up posting it here.

Guilty as charged; initial thoughts

I have been so guilty of misspelling names.  My biggest one: Matusi (hmmm… that’s Matsui… Russ).   We all know that we’re just quickly putting our thoughts down.  The picture was certainly funny.
Some quickies:
1) Enjoying the press getting on Big Papi.  As the person who tortured us in 2004, it doesn’t bother me one bit.  What [...]

Yankees Spelling Bee

We really have a name spelling problem on this site.  The amount of times that we misspell the players’ names is comical.  “Acevas,” “Gardener,” “Sebathia,” etc.  I wonder if all those Yankee players who read our site ever get upset.  I get a kick out of it every time.

Acevas to the rescue

Acevas made his first relief appearance last night and suddenly the whole bullpen was better.  This guy knows how to pitch.
Gardner and Thames are still figuring out how to play left field.  Niether looks comfortable out there. Thames should have made the catch coming in on the short pop up and Gardners throw on Sunday [...]

Stressing Much Papi?

Big Papi apparently went ballistic against the Boston press yesterday.  After going hitless in his first two games (ala Mark Teixeira) the Boston press reminded him of his slow start last year.
“Good,” he said, turning to face the reporters encircling him. “You guys wait till [expletive] happens, then you can talk [expletive]. Two [expletive] games, and [...]

That was fun

What a strong bullpen showing by us last night. Who was that guy doing the 2007 Joba impression? Two years wasted by a conversion attempt to starting pitching.
And forget Clapton, Mariano Rivera is god.
I think Francona may have a big problem with Ortiz, he came out of his funk late last year but now I almost [...]

Tonight’s Lineup

Maybe the Tinkerer is just trying to give guys their first taste?  I don’t know – what does the magic book say?  If you’re going to tinker, I like this lineup:
1) Jeter SS; 2) Winn Lf; 3) Tex 1B; 4) A-Rod 3B; 5) Cano 2B; 6) Posada C; 7) Granderson CF; 8) Thames RF; 9) [...]

Ok. Now I’m going to complain.

What the heck is Girardi doing?  According to the Michael Kay Show, one game into the season, Girardi is changing the lineup.  Gardner after going 2-4 and stealing home is not in the lineup today AND Granderson is batting ninth.  Marcus Thames is in.  I’m all for getting our first win, but is that the way [...]

Bullpen in Crisis!!!!

Apparently it’s also not to early to completely second guess the decision to put Joba in the pen and Hughes in the rotation.  With a bullpen this leaky the Yankees will be lucky to win 60 games.  I think George King III needs to stop with the sky is falling routine.
Actually, King’s pretty much a hack [...]
