Mike, I agree I’m tired of A.J. too.  Sorry, I haven’t been on the roundtable lately, but as Luther told the parking garage attendant in the movie “48 Hrs” ….. “I’ve been busy!”  Actually, I’ve been tapped by the Obama Administration on how to plug the hole… please no plugging hole jokes.  You can save it for tomorrow at “Roundtable Day.”

1) I did not know that A.J. Burnett was Native American for “He who takes much money and delivers inconsistency”

2) I wish I could accuse Moyer of taking steroids, but the guy doesn’t even throw hard enough to win the big stuffed animal prize at the Jersey shore.

3) Broadcast News:  Everyone knows everytime I have to listen to the radio, I break out in a rash.  Doesn’t Sterling understand how utterly embarrassing his Teixiera HR call is?  Anyway, I’m starting to get the rash everytime I watch the T.V. coverage.  Leiter – he’s awful.  Kay and O’Neill suffer from the same annoyance that Kay and Sterling suffered from toward the end of their partnership.  Too much banter, not enough baseball.   But hey, I’m 40 now and I’m allowed to be cranky.

4) Swing the deal for Cliff Lee.  To heck with it.  Give them the catching prospect (forget his name right now).  Make Montero a Right fielder and let Cervelli catch in the future try to swing the 72 hour window to lock Lee up despite his insistence that he wants to go free agent.

5) 16 years ago – the Rangers were celebrating a cup, the Knicks were losing in Game 5, and OJ was driving a white Bronco.   Baseball, was an after thought as the Yankees were just starting to get good and the Mets stunk.  Hard to believe.

6)  I am one of only 20 people in the country that cares about the College World Series other than the immediate family of the participants.  I will be rooting for Clemson because they are the underdog.  They play juggernaut Arizona St. on Sunday at 7pm.
