McCarver refute
by Mike GI don’t know if anyone else was getting pissed off at aging Yankee-hater Tim McCarver during the Fox broadcast his weekend, but I was. Aside from adding nothing to the game (and coming up with the ludicrous theory that AJ hurt is hand throwing a pie in Swisher’s face), the guy finds a way to disparage the Yankees in every game he covers. He was going on and on about how the Yankees are still mistreating Torre and how they are trying to erase him from existence. Then he went a little to far. Hey, Tim, you have your ring from the 1964 World Series, you beat us, so just shut up.
Even fellow Yankee hater Joe Morgan never invoked Stalin as part of a Yankee rant, possibly because he doesn’t know who that was.
Speaking of regular team announcers – a new poll rated Vin Scully first, the Mets’ team (in spite of Keith Hernandez??) second. Don’t kid yourself, when Scully did the 1977,78,81 World Series LAD vs. NYY he was as bad a “homer” as anyone, I remember that clearly. NYY YES team was not in top or bottom five in poll.
I see that Michael Kay now has a fiance, no points for life changes though.
