After 17 years Posada can retire comfortably. The salary structure is such that you don’t need that last “hang on” year any more. Babe Ruth with the Boston Braves (although he was hoping for a manager slot), Hank Aaron with the Brewers (saw him live vs. NYY at Shea), Willie Mays and Duke Snider with the Mets, many such examples in decades past.

We lose an aging strong hitter in Posada , the Tigers get young Prince Fielder to go with those arms? I’m not happy that Prince was “Imported TO Detroit”.

The Mets are picking up .220 hitters and chair throwing pitchers, but they are doing SOMETHING (besides building repelling).

The Red Sox decided they needed a disciplinarian who really knows the game. The fact that the new hire is a maniac does not bother them in the least. I LOVE THIS. If there is a bigger contrast between Girardi and Valentine…….

Beer drinking and wing eating during games by off-day starting pitchers in the Fenway clubhouse. It’s as if high-living Babe Ruth was never traded from Boston. Tito couldn’t control the clubhouse and now Epstein is also headed for the door.

Did John Henry fire one or both of them? Gave them enough rope to hang themselves unless they brought in another ring in spite of the clubhouse chaos?

Posada- battling to the end (his possible career end as well), breaking down after the game, that’s a Yankee.

A-Rod- Hollywood dating, recovering steroid using choke artist. Mild profanity from him in his post game interview. I kidded about it last week, but the guy deserves to bat eighth.

Bad for me, my daughter’s getting married next month to a Tigers fan. An authentic Tigers fan. I’ll hear about this for a while.

Mixed emotions

Burnett got the win. Facts are facts. He walked too many, threw too many in the dirt (he’s going to shorten Russell Martin’s career), and got lucky when wickedly hit balls were fielded. But he got the win.

I listened to Sterling (no time delay with 880 radio and TBS for some reason). I did not realize Waldman despises Burnett so much, assume his cheerful demeanor has given her problems when she has tried to do her job and interview him in the past.

I know Granderson probably originally misjudged that first big catch, but that was some catch, better even than the great stretch out catch later. Curtis was channeling Tommy Agee from 1969 World Series.
