So Texiera now says he will try to bunt against the shift. What a revelation. Only took him 4 years in pinstripes to make that decision. He’s still not 100% committed, saying… that if he is one for twenty in bunting he’ll have to go back to the drawing board. What confidence!

After 17 years Posada can retire comfortably. The salary structure is such that you don’t need that last “hang on” year any more. Babe Ruth with the Boston Braves (although he was hoping for a manager slot), Hank Aaron with the Brewers (saw him live vs. NYY at Shea), Willie Mays and Duke Snider with the Mets, many such examples in decades past.

We lose an aging strong hitter in Posada , the Tigers get young Prince Fielder to go with those arms? I’m not happy that Prince was “Imported TO Detroit”.

Good Trade. Not sure if Montero will ever be better than a below average catcher, and this team does not need a 23 year old DH. So, I’d rather have a young arm that throws 95+ with lots of upside.

No one played the game with more passion. I think he will have a hard time leaving the game. I wouldn’t be surprised if he winds up on the coaching staff in 2013.

To Jorge Posada, who hung up his mitt quietly through an ESPN story. No way Posada would play elsewhere and drag it out as DH (even assuming someone would want him.)

A-Rod on the recommendaiton of Kobe Bryant and with the blessing of the Yankees and the Commissioner’s office, was sent off to Germany for some sort of centrifuge treatment for his knee. You can’t make this stuff up.

In other news, the Yankees signed Hideki Okajima to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. He’s a lefty, so he’s worth a shot I guess.

This is what qualifies as news in the Yankees off season this year. WHOOPPEE!! Who the heck is pitching for this team other than CC?

Go get the young man from Oakland. Give them Montero and nothing else. We have other catching prospects. When Swisher is done, we’ll sign Andre Ether from the Dodgers to be a bat and play right field.

Gonzalez has pitched well for a bad team. A club can control him for another 4 years, he’s lefthanded, and gifted. Try to get him. Try not to give up the crown jewel pitching prospects.

Take the good pitcher over the good hitter.

By the way, who cares about Burnett. The Yankees have wasted plenty of money on other players, at least we got Game 2 of the 2009 WS out of him. If I were Girardi, I would tell him (assuming we keep him), “So we tried to trade you, can you blame us? What are you going to do about it? Prove us wrong.” And hand him a ball.

Do not be mad at Jose Reyes for leaving. Your team never made an offer. Reyes went back to the Mets after the Marlins made their offer and it was met with silence. He can’t play for the Mets if they never offer him a contract and a position.

And, by the way, if you call talk radio and say you are never watching baseball again because Reyes is gone, then you never loved the game in the first place. The game should be enough.
