Rally killing inning ending DP (-2)
Failure get in runner on 3rd, less than 2 outs (-2)

Regardless of score, RBI hit/walk to tie game (+2)
RBI to break tie (+2)
Walk off Home Run (+3)
* Out advancing runner(s) w/o RBI not viewed as a failure (but not a positive as it is a minimum “expected†outcome) For Clutch Count purposes it is the equivalent of a walk (i.e. a non-AB). Failure to advance runner on 1st not a negative.

Game 1 vs. Tampa
Even though it was an inning early, I will be giving Jeter a +2 for his game-tying 2-run single. Anyone watching the game knows that that was a pressure-filled, clutch AB.
A-Rod leads off the 7th with a base hit (+1), then steals second (+1), manufacturing the lead run as Giambi drives him in.
Giambi +2 for driving in lead run in 7th.
Jeter grounds out (-1) in the 8th with Dougie on second.
A-Rod hits a two-run shot (+1) in the 8th to extend the lead past the save mark.
At this Point:
Jeter: +1 (1 for 2)
A-Rod: +3 (2 for 2)
Giambi: +2 (1 for 1)
Game 2 vs. Tampa
Giambi +1 for walk to load bases in 7th, tie game.
A-Rod -1 for pop out with bases loaded in 8th, down 1 (after Abreu’s abysmal failure with 1 out).

At this Point:
Jeter: +2 (2 for 3)

Giambi: +2 (2 for 3)
Game 5 vs. Baltimore

A-Rod +1 for leadoff double in 7th, down 2.

At this Point:
Jeter: +1 (2 for 4)
A-Rod: +4 (6 for 11)
Giambi: +3 (5 for 9)
I was thinking that Jeter’s single that moved Damon from 1st to third in the 8th might deserve a +1. There were no outs and had he made an out, (and assuming Abreu still strikes out) A-Rod doesn’t get a chance for a Sac fly. Generally, advancing the runner or a single that only moves a guy to 2nd doesn’t get a +1. However, since he advanced the runner 2 bases, I lobby for the +1.
Game 12 vs. Indians
Nothing.
Also:
I believe that a +1 for Jeter’s single in the 8th inning of game 11 (as referred to by Mike T) is a bit of a stretch (especially since the Yankees already had the lead). We have guidelines in place to follow, and there are exceptions made, but a 3-run HR to tie a game in the 6th is a lot different than a single to move a runner to third. Would you have given Jeter a -1 if he made an out in that situation? I vote against the +1.
Game 13 vs. Indians
Nothing.
